Clasps: Functional Adornment Exhibition
Commitment Deadline: April 1, 2018
Presented by Metal Arts Guild (MAG) and hosted by Macchiarini Creative Design Gallery, designers are invited to be part of an exhibition focusing on jewelry using a variety of clasps, connectors, and/or fasteners. Small sculptures including connectors are welcome too. Jewelry has been part of humanity since the beginning of time. Connectors provide the function of putting on and taking off the piece and are often incorporated into the aesthetics of the jewelry itself, being both functional and providing adornment.
MJSA Vision Awards 2018

Every year, the MJSA (Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America) Vision Awards celebrate outstanding talent in the field of jewelry design. The winning designers represent the future of the jewelry manufacturing industry, and the Vision Awards competition showcases their creativity and boosts their careers. MJSA ensures the Vision Award winners receive the recognition they deserve throughout the industry.
#LoveBetter Art Competition

The Academy of Art University is working with the One Love Foundation to host an art competition, #LoveBetter, during the spring 2018 semester. The One Love Foundation was created in memory of Yeardley Love, a University of Virginia Lacrosse player who was killed by her ex-boyfriend just weeks before her graduation. The #LoveBetter campaign shines a light on the signs of emotional abuse, defining the gray area between love and control so you know relationship abuse when it happens and before it escalates. You can create a project as an individual, or work with a team, and use any platform that you would like – video, photography, collage, sculpture, song… any way that you would like to get the message across.
Spring Show 2018

The Academy of Art University's annual Spring Show returns this May. Pick your best pieces from your Summer 2017, Fall 2017, and/or Spring 2018 Jewelry & Metal Arts classes (three entries total). Entry forms and more information will be provided in April.
So Fresh + So Clean 2018
Submission Deadline: June 8, 2018
Ethical Metalsmith Students (EM Students) is examining what it means to be an artist in the 21st century by curating the most innovative jewelry and metalsmithing work made within the past two years. Applicants will be considered for the Annual Emerging Artist Award. This award will be given to a student who embraces the greater mission of the Ethical Metalsmiths organization and shows exceptional drive or innovative thinking in their approach to the field of jewelry and metalsmithing in their practice.
2018 Itami International Craft Exhibition
Submission Deadline: July 27, 2018
Itami International Craft Exhibition's “Shuki Shuhaidai” is an international competition of craft works giving focus on Japanese sake – “shuki,” to enjoy scenes of toasting with Japanese sake, and “shuhaidai,” an instrument to stage the joyful moments with sake. The judges are looking for entries with new and unexpected inspirations that bring fascination and tastefulness for the culture of sake drinking.
Halstead Grant 2018
Submission Deadline: August 1, 2018
The Halstead Grant is calling for entries to its 13th annual competition for emerging jewelry artists working in silver. The grand prize winner receives a $7,500 cash grant as well as $1,000 in jewelry supplies, a feedback report from the judging committee, a trip to Halstead headquarters in Arizona, and recognition in the field. The top 10 finalists are all recognized with signature trophies, smaller cash prizes and individual feedback reports. The grant experience is a business development exercise to help jewelry start-ups establish clear goals for the early years of their studios.
